Evaluation and Relevance of Indications for Primary Caesarean Section: A Five-Year Experience Report from Nevers Hospital Center

Context: The caesarean section rate continues to increase in our different health structures specially for women who have not had a scar the uterus. Objectives: aim of this study was analyze key factors and main indications primary sections find ways reduce increasing rates. Patients Method: This is longitudinal retrospective carried out from June 1, 2018 July 31, 2022. included all patients cesarean-section first time (primary caesarean). An anterior uterine non-inclusion criterion. Data were collected prospectively using Synfonievre Agopra software via patients’ files information collection sheet. analyzed with SPSS 21 software, Mac version. Averages calculated quantitative data percentages qualitative data. statistical tests used Pearson Chi2 test. observed differences considered significant when p-value less than 0.05. Results: During period, we recorded 8832 deliveries 3148 (35.6%). Primary CS concerned 70% overall C-section rate. FHR Fetal Heart Rate abnormalities (FHRA) (27%), followed by other (including preterm delivery, umbilical cord dystocia, malpresentation fetus, foetal abnormalities, elective CS, triple gestation, mother abnormalities); dystocia or prolonged labor (18.7%), breech presentation twin pregnancy 11.3% 9.6% respectively.
